It is now believed that certain compounds found in cherries can actually relieve the pain of gout and help to prevent the actual gout attacks in some gout sufferers.
It is well known that uric acid buildup in the blood, past the point that the individual person with gouty arthritis can handle, can bring on a gout attack.
A compound known as anthocyanins in cherries has been found to help with the reduction of uric acid levels in the body. Anthocyanins is the compound that actually gives cherries their bright red color. This magical compound has been found to provide many more health benefits than just uric acid reduction when taken on a daily basis.
It usually takes two to three large servings of raw cherries on a daily basis to produce the benefits gout sufferers are after. I don't know about you, but I sure don't want to eat that many cherries each day. I would get sick and tired of them fast. Plus, when they are out of season they get quite expensive.
This is where black cherry juice concentrate comes to the rescue. You can get the same amount of anthocyanins in about two tablespoons of high quality concentrate. Notice I said high quality? I wasted a lot of money trying to save money with lower quality juice concentrates. These lower quality brands simply did not work with relieving my gout pain. I came close to giving up on it. Boy I'm glad I didn't.
I also tried black cherry capsules. At first I thought this was going to be great. I could just add them to the vitamins I take each day. I'll be very blunt here. They did not work, except to lighten my wallet of some hard earned money. I was very disappointed to say the least.
